The 90s zine survived in Buenos Aires. The passed-around magazine still exists on photocopied paper, but much of its job now runs through one-person micro-media, free newsletters and weekly flyer agendas.

The overground, briefly

Reggae is big and alive: Nonpalidece's 30th-anniversary tour and Los Cafres' 2026 touring are selling out. On streaming, cumbia leads, trap is big, and a younger generation is reviving Argentine rock. But money is tight: ticket sales are reported down 30–50%, small venues have closed (Moscú among them), and public funding for arts and community radio has shrunk, so the scene leans harder on its own circuits.

Under: Buenos Aires & La Plata

Since 2022 a rough alt/post-punk wave (Winona Riders, Mujer Cebra, Buenos Vampiros) has taken over the Buenos Aires under. La Plata runs its own DIY circuit (Ciudad de Gatos, La Plata Prog), and the hardcore/shoegaze Festival Nuevo Día carries the heavier end. Bands run their own festivals; Noize Record Club calls them “autogestivos y de impronta obrera”, self-managed and working-class.

The mixed night

The defining format is the ciclo where everything shares one room. Camionero's Tracción a Sangre mixes pogo, fanzines, textile art, live tattoos and poetry readings. Club del Reggae, which PelaGatos calls “el ciclo mutante y temático más federal de la Argentina”, roams CABA, Greater Buenos Aires and Córdoba with craftspeople, tattooists, an indie record fair and clothing stalls. Doors run around 10,000 pesos, or pay-what-you-can “contribución consciente” at the Traslareggae Dub Camp in the Córdoba sierras.

Paper & small media

Where the dates live

Listings are scattered across flyers, Instagram stories and venue accounts. The agendas that pull them together are Comunidad Fusa (“Quién toca esta semana en el under, dónde y a cuánto”), El Under, a one-person site “hecho con amor”, and Reddit's r/bandasunderArg.

Loudest themes

  1. Paper and presence against screens and algorithms.
  2. Self-management with no money: no fees, pay-what-you-can doors.
  3. Mixed nights as a micro-economy: tattoo, zines, clothes, records.
  4. Discovery by word of mouth and small media, not press campaigns.
  5. Scenes crossing genres: reggae, punk, poetry and craft in one night.
